Human experiences remind us of the need for mutual assistance and collaboration for meaningful survival and successful coping with the challenges encountered individually. Likewise, we migrant members of the DMV area community, as a result of being subjected to urgent needs of support at times of end of life and death occurrences, have decided to form a point of collaboration, “Hafooshaa” in Oromo. Members of the Oromo community contribute to a unique support system that assists families through the grieving process when a loved one is lost. Commemorating the decedent, assisting the family through the grieving process, and long community gatherings at the home of the decedent are important facets of Oromo tradition. MAOMAA seeks to preserve and promote these Oromo traditions by organizing community support for members who have suffered a loss.
To facilitate the activities of MAOMAA and to limit the scope of the duties and responsibilities of the leadership, we hereby agree to initiate the following bylaws.
